One thing is certain–a 300 two-stroke is the ulti- mate off-road bike, but that’s really not saying
much. The general title “300 two-stroke” is about as
descriptive as the term “dog.” Yes, we know it’s
man’s best friend and all that, but are we talking
Doberman or Chihuahua?
KTM hasn’t made the matter any easier. The company offers two different 300s that look almost alike.
On top of that, KTM also produces the Husaberg
TE300. All three are made for off-road riders who
love the smell of premix, and all three have the
same basic description: a 300cc, six-speed, off-road two-stroke with electric start and WP suspension. Are they really exactly alike? And if not, which
is for what?
Comparing the KTM 300XC and the Husaberg TE300
Just how similar are the Husaberg TE300 and KTM 300XC-
W? Mechanically, they’re nearly identical. On the trail, they
are at different ends of the 300cc two-stroke spectrum.
