In 1972, some 45 years ago at the OMC track in
Boise, Idaho, Gary Jones went 1-1-1 and beat
Torsten Hallman and the rest of the world’s greatest
riders at the Boise Inter-Am. In the 2017 version, he
added another moto win to his tally.
Believe it or not, TC was on a
Works Husqvarna Automatic from
the Terry Williams Collection. He
was five bikes ahead of Mike and
10 ahead of Robb at the first turn.
(Below, top left) Terry Cunningham won five out of six motos, most
of them in the last turn. There were epic battles both days. (Below,
top right) Mike “Snake” Melton, who never rides anymore, rides like
Reagan was still in office! (Bottom) The covered start at the OMC
track. It’s uphill with deep sand, so bring horsepower.

a little last-minute
frowning as the older
guys are still way faster.
