After much testing, Charlie fit up a Baja Designs Squadron
LED headlamp with dimmer switch. This is a racing-quality
light that gives a white and wider beam. This was a plug-and-play unit. He did cut the stock unit’s upper brackets and built
a lower-adjusting bracket. This moves the light into the stock
position and allows for adjustment. The way the light came, it
leaned forward and he did not care for the fit.
Charlie kept with the stock valving in the rear shock but used
a stiffer spring. He fit a foam-sealer cover over the lower
shock mount to save the bushing at the joint.
With the muffler, Charlie went with a Z-Racing Pro Moto Billet
muffler end cap with a core extension kit. This made a huge
Gearing is key, and we swear by a 14-front- and 52-rear-tooth
Talon sprocket using a long RK chain. The stock guide worked
fine, but the Bullet Proof strengthener is a must.
Love the light weight of the KTM Hard Parts skid plate, a
Hammerhead shifter and a Nihilo Concepts airbox bolt kit. This
keeps it in place.
The bars and dashboard are heavily tested and wrap around
Flexx bars (a must for long-haul off-road), and include a Ram
mount for a Garmin GPS; a custom-made, back-flip roll-chart
holder; a Doubletake mirror; and Charlie won’t ride without
his Scotts damper. ;
